Campsite Tire change

On the way to Daytona in 1992 we got a flat. What a suck job, it was about 5:30 PM and no shop was answering the phone. If I could get a tube I could change it on the side of the road.

Time pased by and so did the traffic. So I kept my eyes peeled, someone I know is gonna pass by on the way to daytona. Sure enough here comes a bud in his big ass pick up. Bad news is it's loaded over the rails with camping gear. Good news is he knows a shop, that answers the phone when we call and can go ahead to the camp ground and send back another truck.

Back to the tire shop that answered the phone...We called um and they got a tube. Problem is he's leaving to barbaville, they're racing. So he says..."There's a broken cooler in the front of the shop, the tube will be in there, leave me the money". Too cool! This guy is great! Now to get there. Back to watching traffic.

Watching the traffic again paid off. Here comes my friend's G/f. Flag her down and she gladly takes me to get the tube while my G/F stays behind to watch our bike and gear.

Tube in hand and we're back to watching traffic. This time we're waiting for the truck and know it's coming. No sense changing it at this point on the side of the road. The guys arrive and we load up the bike and make our way to camp.

The bike stayed in the truck for the night. We had to remove the rear tire and replace that tube. We were in a dirt camp and had no jack. The tailgate of the pickup truck would serve as a platform for the change in the morning.

On to changing the tire we went and the ladie snapped a couple of pics of me under the tire removing and installing it.

Bike week was great for the two days we stayed and the bike didn't give us a lick of problems from there out.
