clearance specs?

L've been studying the oil filter relocation for a 650 vstar. Does anybody know if the oil filter is removed,
is there enough clearance to drill and tap a real dipstick ?
it just don't feel right standing on my head trying to check the oil. thanx

Just drove my new V Star 650 Classic home this morning.....

Can't answer that question about the dipstick. However, I think I can rig up a mirror on the ground to check the oil level.

It's really hard to check the oil, isn't it! Seems like there ought to be a better way. My previous SUzuki had the same system, but it was easier than the Yam.
