Not all...

I must clarify... I do not mean to say that all dealers are dishonist with their customers. Sorry that I sounded that way.

BTW: The CKP replacemant has made a world of difference in the performance of this engine! Does anyone have any idea if the sensor has a weakening sensitivity over time? The new one has a 'superceeding' part number meaning that HD has possibly improved the part in some way. The engine has certainly benefitted from the new sensor...

Thanks,
Bill C.

Great new look here on the forum, I must visit more often...

How wrong I was here! I was well along with wishful thinking because of what we found the problem to be.

Once again...,

It's good to have ya. Ya lost me on your point, but all dealers have at least one idiot emplyed. The local HD dealer here included. The owners are good folks, but their employees tend to have big egos.

Going in for a quart of oil can make ya seem like a red headed step child at times.

How right you are! Thanks FX...

My point was that I jumped to a conclusion and it was wrong. The computer on the Harleys is sophistocated to be sure, but it will not diagnose any and all problems that the engine may develop. The DTC's are only a starting point for a troubleshooter technician and the customer (who rides the bike) can fill in the rest. Problem is, the 'tech' knows more than the rider so will not listen. Harley Davidson has a problem...and I fell right in with it and took it to two dealer service departments. BUT, to solve the probem with my bike, I had to do it myself! Does this sound like I'm bragging or pushing a point? Enough said, I'll stop now!

Thanks again, and again....
Bill C.
