Lakeville HD

I took the Heritage to Lakeville HD for a new set of tires before I left for Sturgis. They called me and said there was a small air leak in the gas line fitting that they noticed on cold starts. I told them to go ahead and fix it since I was leaving the next morning.
After picking up the bike I found, the hard way, the gas gage was stuck on full. :( ( I really needed to pay more attention to the mileage and not all the girls. :) )
I brought the bike back to the shop last Saturday and said " you guys screwed something up".
The clerk that checked the bike in tried to assure me that a stuck float was very common on the Heritage's and they couldn't have possibly done anything wrong.
I picked the bike up yesterday and was met by the shop manager who apologized profusely and said they had in fact screwed up when reinstalling the tank.
He apologized for the inconvenience.
I just wanted to give them credit for being honest and upfront about the situation. :)

I am glad that they stood behind their work. A friend of mine has a 2004 Heritage that the gas gage stuck on. We still pick on him for running out of gas.

My friend couldn't laugh to much because he was riding one of my bikes. I think were all entitled to one minor screwup. :signbrn :

I religiously fill up after 100-150 miles, I don't care which bike I'm riding. Usually on the FatBoys that takes slightly above 1/2 tank, on the Heritage a little bit more. I reset the trip meter every time I fill up, and always leave it on the trip meter display. I couldn't even tell you how many total miles are on any of my bikes now, because I haven't switched to odometer mode since I've owned them. I just guage changing oil and doing routine maintenance on time. About every three months I do maintenance. I couldn't tell you if the bike has 300 miles or 1000 miles, but I'm pretty sure I never go over 1000 miles without maintenance. I like to tinker with the things too much to let 'em go too far without maintenance.
