I've been to a few HD dealerships in the Washington DC area. Some are good and others not so good. Here's my ranking so far...

1. Annapolis, MD. Very friendly, knowledgeable, free donuts and coffee. Stopped by on my way out of town and they treated me like the most important person in the dealership. Attitude says it all. I wish they were closer, but I ride out to Delaware often (no lid laws) and pass right by them on US-50.

2. Fort Washington, MD. My regular shop, though they aren't the closest, and their service appointments must be booked well ahead of time. The sales staff is excellent (especially Steve), they do good maintenance, and their parts people are friendly. A more traditional biker-oriented shop. Comfortable place to hang out, too.

3. Fairfax, VA. Closest to me, but my last resort. Though their parts people are pretty good, the rest are geared for yuppies with dollars in hand. Beware of empty promises and run-around from sales. Though you can get service apointments quickly, I've had to bring my bike back twice to get it done right. They've poured yards of concrete to expand their "Harley Boutique," they don't have a loading dock. They didn't even have a ramp for over a week during my last(!) time there. In their words, loading your bike isn't their responsibility. I felt like a dollar sign, and that's what seems to count most there.

Also of note: Sharon, PA. I was on the road and had a breakdown. They took care of me on the spot, and even let me borrow a car so my daughter and I could grab a bite to eat. If you're ever in western PA on I-80, stop by and tell them I sent you!
