Beware of Leathericon!

On August the 10, 2005 I placed an order with Leathericon for the following jacket

“Hoffman
Wear this updated motorcycle jacket cut to flexibility, splitting the difference between being protective cover or a means for mobility in naked cowhide. Featuring rugged looks with practical features– like front, rear and sleeve venting, action back, full adjustable belt, an removable buckle cover. Full snap out Thinsulate liner, includes removable hard armor for shoulders and elbows.”

Within 10 minutes of placing the order I got a phone call from someone thanking me for the order, and said they would only start my order when I completed the following information:

“Before confirming and processing your order we require your specific measurement details so that the outfit can be tailored as per your size to perfection.
Chest /Bust =
Neck =
Shoulder =
Sleeve =
Hip =
Waist =
Jacket Length =”

I did not order a custom jacket, but I assumed they were going to use the information to verify the size, boy was I wrong. They say they do it as a service to the customer; the real reason is so you can’t return the item.
The company is based out of India, no where on the web page does it state this fact. The customer service people can barely speak English, and understand even less. When I received the jacket it did not fit nor was I satisfied with the quality of the product. It took several days to get a response, and then only after several emails and phone calls. Here is the size I ordered and the size I received.
Size Ordered Size They Made
Chest /Bust = 52” Chest /Bust = 56”
Neck = 17” Neck = 17”
Shoulder = 19” Shoulder = 20”
Sleeve = 28” Sleeve = 28”
Hip = 49” Hip = 50”
Waist = 46” Waist = 52”
Jacket Length =28” Jacket Length =28”

Not exactly a custom fit. The bottom line is that they refuse to take the jacket back saying is a custom made jacket. They did offer to remake the jacket if I returned the 1st one, what they didn’t say was it cost $85-100 to return a $205 jacket. Since the last contact in August they have refused to answer my emails.

My Advice is to avoid Leathericon at all costs, and don’t forget to tell your friends.

Extremely Dissatisfied Customer

I'm glad I read this. I was just looking at one of their auctions on eBay for a pair of leather pants.
