One of my favorite rides from the north end of Lake Lanier where I live is to go up Hiway 9 through Dawsonville to Dahlonega , head across to Cleveland , then up 129 over Blood Mountain to 180 passed Brasstown Bald ending up in Helen . Lots of twisties , not to many people and great scenery . Helen has a few great beer gardens at the end of the trip.

The ride to Jasper is great , I prefer going up through Tate on 53 , then loop back on 136 over the mountain. If time permits , at Jasper continue on towards Fairmount , then head north to Chatsworth and over Fort Mountain back to Elijay , up 76 to Blue Ridge , down 60 to 180 and over to Helen .

These rides sound great, makes me want to take right to those roads....have you ever rode through the Smokie Mountains in the spring time or summer? It's as beautiful as it gets. TERRI

I've been through the smokies a few times , unforthunately not on 2 wheels yet.
There is a a big run to Maggie Valley in the fall I plan on making . Found a nice little back road yesterday . Heading over from 129 after Blood Mtn, take 180 east , which is a great road , just a bit down that road hang a right on 348 which is an alternate route to Helen . lots of scenery scenice turnouts , and the road is made for bikes.
