fuel and tach ?'s on 1100 vstar

First - I'm wondering if anyone knows of a fuel guage or a dummy light i can install on my 1100 custom. I was actually a little surprised that it didnt come with a dummy light.
Second - (im rounding numbers here) i am supposed to havea 4.5 gallon tank with 1.2 gallon reserve. is the reserve above and behond the 4.5 gallons or is it actually 3.3 + 1.2 for 4.5 total?
(I ran out of gas cruising a long and threw it into reserve, started back up and hit the gas station. I filled 2.2 gallons and it was full... This was my first fill up so im just trying to figure out if im dumb or ignorant here :bonk 2: )
third - i'm going to be traveling 60 miles a day - at least - and i was wondering if im going to find myself fiddeling with the reserve switch while im stuck in the car pool lane real often.

also - im still breaking in this thing, there is no tach but i want to keep the rpm's down for a little while longer. Anyone know what 75mph in 5th going to look like on a tach? I need to be able to push 75-80 or im going to be run over on the freeways out here.

The total gas tank capacity is 4.49 gal. of fuel. 1.2 gal of that amount is your reserve fuel. Just today I went riding and put 159 miles on the bike. I stopped at a gas station and put 3.1 gal. of gas back into the tank. That works out to 51.3 mpg. Isn't this a great bike or what!

yeah, i really do love the bike. i cant wait until i can start bringing her to work everyday... (waiting to take the MSF course to get my license that way...mid november or so)

I don't have a tach on my 650. But it wont matter as an 1100 would do less rpm to get the same speed (right? dunno)
51MPG? huh? I only get around 46. grrrr
