Virago frame compatiblity

I'm piecing together a Virago xv920 '82/83 front end. I don't have a frame, only need the front with the stem on it. From an on-line cataloge it looks like the Virago 920 and 750 bearing races and covers are the same part number, leading me to believe they are the same diameter. Does anyone know if the 750 stem is the same length as the 920?
