I think I have asked this question before but I will go ahead and post this thread. I was recently told that I can put a 200 rear tire on my 1999 vstar custom without any modification. Clean swap. Is there any truth to this? Thanks in advanced and Happy Holidays. E!

Don't really know much about that. A 170 fits with plenty of room left over. I just may fit. Check with your local shops and see what they say.

Thanks for the reply, currently I am running a 170. Looking to go bigger. E

Let's do the math. We have a 170mm tire and we want to use a 200mm. We are going to be 15mm wider on each side of the tire.

So you need 15mm clearance on each side just to fit by the numbers. You'll probably need a bit more though. ;)
15 millimeter = 0.5905512 inch

What is the clearance space currently on your motorcycle at the tightest spot on each side of the 170mm tire?

Now that is a detailed answer FX. I'm thinking it will be a little wide for the stock set up. Not really going to run out and measure it. As a 170 tire cost enough. Would hate to see the $$$ for the 200.

WOW! And I thought I was doing good when I got a 145mm to fit that back of my Electra-Glide. :kewl:
