HUNTINGTON -- A man who tracked down his stolen motorcycle gave five law enforcement agencies in Cabell and Wayne counties the break they needed solving a string of thefts and break-ins, police say.

Trooper 1st Class B.M. Greenlee of the West Virginia State Police in Huntington said two adults and two juveniles who live on Pleasant View Road in Cabell County are suspects in the investigation.

Greenlee would not release the suspects’ names, nor would he release the name of the person who reported his motorcycle being stolen. Four vehicles have been recovered so far, Greenlee said.

Det. Bob McQuaid of the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation isn’t ending with the four suspects.

"Now that we do have information, the suspect list is growing," McQuaid said.

Greenlee and McQuaid said their investigation has led to more than 10 cases including thefts of vehicles and money. Some stolen vehicles may have been taken to Lawrence County, so Ohio officials are being brought into the investigation, they said.

Greenlee and McQuaid said anyone in the Tri-State who has bought a motorcycle or an ATV recently and did not receive a title or was not offered one should call the state police at (304) 528-5555 to see if it has been reported stolen.

The Wayne County sheriff’s office and police departments in Huntington and Wayne are participating in the investigation, Greenlee and McQuaid said.

Greenlee said the break in the case came on Wednesday. A person called to report his motorcycle had been stolen. Greenlee said he told the person he was busy with an arrest at the moment and would call him back as soon as the arrest had been completed.

Before the arrest was finished, the theft victim called again to report where the motorcycle was and who had it, Greenlee said.

McQuaid said the suspects are cooperating "to some degree" with the investigation. Greenlee said all four suspects are male.
