How do you make your stock pipes louder without buying aftermarket ones?

I've had people tell me that just taking the baffle out makes it sound weird, and it hurts your engine by losing backpressure.

Could someone please give me a few hints?

As far as how it sounds, that can be subjective. Some bikes may sound shitty with the baffles punched out.

The backpresure thing is referring to scavanging. With a wide open exhaust without the proper back pressure, the exhust flowing through the pipes creates a vacumn that will suck the incoming air fuel mixture out of the cylinder during overlap of the cam having the exhoust and intake valve open at the same time. Techy stuff.

You didn't say what bike you have but I'll give and example of an 80 inch harley, same bike 3 exhust systems. The stock system gave the bike a lot of low end ass. Tourqe! On the other hand, the bike woundn't do shit till about 80 MPH with open drag pipes, then it went like hell! With the stock top mph was about 105. With the drag pipes like 115. Now it has what are called anti revision drag pipes. They are wide open pipes but at the head they are kinda tapered to prevent scavanging. These babies rock through all the ranges. But they are loud and would never pass DOT.

Hope that helps a little.
