Hello Everyone......

Been reading about going to "tall gearing" to reduce the RPM at cruising speeds (60-70MPH). Thinking 29 tooth front, 55 tooth rear.

Wondering if anyone has tried this fix to reduce vibration at highway speed. And if so how bad does it affect low end performance.

Thanks for your imput

Well I changed my front sprocket from the stock 883 27 tooth to a 29 front stock on a 1200 but I don`t seem to have any problem at 60. Heck I hit 70 in second gear at 6500 RPM`s. I only run about 2500 RPM`s or so at 60 in 5th gear.

Thanks Iron

I still have to find out whats in this one. I bought it used and am still getting her stats down. Not much factory left on her but she looks great sitting still and running wild.

I found the best article yet on sportster gearing. You can find it at http://www.chuckhawks.com/sportster_vibration.htm. I have just purchased a 55 rear and 19 front. I believe the 55 rear will reduce the RPM enough that my fillings will stay in place at 70MPH. I will update when I get the modification done.
