I was just writing looking to see if any of you had any opinions worth sharing. Im looking to get a new exhaust system on my 05 vstar 650 custom. I have been looking around and the 3 companies I have come across most frequently are vance and hines, hard krome, and cobra. As far as styling goes I am most interested in the v and h staggered shortshots. However I have read reviews that the hard krome "big straights" or "american classic straights" are the way to go. Ive also bumped into guys who give cobra systems the nod. Im looking to add lots of sound (although I realize the small engine doesnt allow for much) I was just writing to see if any of you had any opinions, or heard which systems may best fit my needs. thanks for the help.

Wow... I thought my stock 650 V-Star was loud enough.... I had it running in the driveway next to my Wing today and I had to gas the Wing to make sure it was running... LOL

Remember, If it's to loud your to old. I have the Cobra Long Shotguns on my 1100. It is your choice. Check out what others around you have on theres.

I put a set of Hard Krome slip-on's on my uncle's 04 Silverado. They look great and sound good. The only problem that we had was we had to remove the AIS Pollution Equipment) from the intake. It was fouling plugs, but now it runs great.
Good Luck with your Motorcycle.

I just picked up a pair of Hard Krome 2.5 Strippers for my wifes 650. from the reviews I've read, they are louder than the V&H Cruizers and supposedly have a good sound. I'll let ya'll know, they are due to be delivered today

pipes are on. a bit of a tuffy on the rear bolts, very tight, small fingers help. The sound is great and more of what i was looking for. I knew the 650 wasn't going to deliver that deep thud my 1500 does but it growls now, I can hear a bigger heart trying to get out still...that'll come later.

here's a couple of pics

so far, with my wife being a new rider, i don't wanna soup it up with the jetkit and air filter just yet even with that, getting rid of that choked off backpressure of the stock pipes, its got a bit more already, expected.

we'll run it like this for a while till she gets a better handle on her ride, then in it goes for the performance mods

Im looking really only to change out the pipes considering I dont really intend to put much more cash into this bike. Did the pipes alone really increase the sound that much considering the hard krome pipes are gonna run about $500

yep, the sound improvement is great. the stock pipes were wisper quiet, not the bike has a nice idle tone, a great bark/bit on hard acceleration and a great tone at cruise.

I found these pipes on ebay, paid $330 for them they list $460 on the HK site.
