Morning All

Got a 1995 Heritage Classic a few weeks ago - moving up from the 1200 Sporty. This weekend while headed back from the beach, the run was about 230 miles, I started noticing the bike is pulsating. Like the the clutch is catching and releasing. It starts about 35MPH and is noticable up to highway speed. Its not bad and it does not change the handling.

Any suggestions? Is this normal for the softail? Big change from my Sporty but a much more civilized 2 up rider.

Thanks -

Jack

No, that's definately not normal. You said it starts at 35mph. Does it seem to be speed related above that, or is it RPM related? If you shift immediately after it starts pulsing, does it continue pulsing or does it stop until the revs get back up? If it seems to be RPM related, your rev limiter may be out of alignment or may have even slung a spring. That would be my best first guess. The good news is it's a cheap and easy fix. The bad news is, well, there really isn't any bad news :). The only problem with fixing this is if you don't know what to look for to determine if it's the rev limiter or not. In that case it'll require a trip to your favorite wrench man.

Hey Bigwater appeciate the quick response.

Will be taking her in to the mechanic Wednesday. He thinks the new clutch cable might have slipped - was replaced the week I bought the bike. He said he would check it over since he did the full service last month.

My local favorite shop has closed so I am dealing with new mechanics.....
