My yamaha v star 650 has passing lamps I had installed when I ordered the bike from the dealer. They kill my battery if I use them too much. Can I install a more powerful alternator or something along those lines so these lights can be used and not ware on the battery?
Thanks, Disdream

I would go back to the dealer and tell them about the issue. They may not be installed correctly. Or you could have other issues. As far as bike alternators are concerned, more powerful alternators are usually not an option, and if they are they are very expensive. It may be something simple such as a bad battery, or a bad regulator.

What wattage lamps did they sell you. I have 2 bikes both with light bars. 55w bulbes in one and 35w in the other. If I run the 55w ones my battery starts to die also, I have to put it on the tender every night. The 35w set gives me no problems. The 55w are too much for the charging circuit to keep up with, so check your wattage.
