So I took my bike in to the shop. I just bought it about 2 months ago. Wanted the carb cleaned, new exhaust since mine was a little rusted, and a safety inspection.

So far, its been 2 weeks. Still waiting on a part they forgot to order for the exhaust. Oh, and they broke the choke cable, so their waiting on that too.

Patience is wearing thin.......

Hang in there. If they keep breaking parts you might have a whole new bike when your done.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Motorcycle mechanics have a god syndrome going. They believe that since most people can't fix their own bikes, that they can do things at their own speed. Well, I showed them, I learned to fix my own. Joey, just think of it as half a Lincoln. Then you can do it yourself.

I got my motorcycle back from a repair shop Monday. They had the exact attitude you describe. They treated me like I was some dumb ass on the phone. This went on for days.

Well, I showed up monday to get the bike, and in person, the whole attitude changed. Go figure.

In the end, I paid them a small tow and estimate fee and I'm fixing the bike myself with Bill's help. They can kiss my ass.

They treated me so bad I'm compelled to post about them in the dealer forum. Locals will know the Harley dealer I'm referring to. We have one right here and one a bit north. I used the one a bit north and will never use them again. :puke:

That is such a shame that they seem to feel the need to treat us as if we are morons. When in fact, we in many cases know more about our own bikes than they do. When I was a mechanic, my most valuable tool to diagnose the problem was my customer. I would listen to their complaints and in many cases have them take me for a test drive so that they could replicate the issue that needed fixed. While I know that it is impractical for a bike mechanic to do this, the test ride part anyway, they should at least learn to listen. It really blows their mind when I walk into the shop in Leathers one day, and a business suit the next. I am lucky in the fact that my local shop knows my mechanical skills, and they do not try to BS me. They know that if they have the bike, it is not because I can't do the repair, it is just that I am either too busy or being just plain lazy. You should post their name in the forum so that others know who to avoid, and maybe they will get wind of the post and try to change their act.

One of the best things we have going on around here is competition. We have 5 Harley shops within a 40 mile radius of the Twin Cities. The dealers have started to realize that if you have a bad experience you won't be back. You won't come back for repairs, parts, clothes and you esp. won't be back when it's time to buy a new bike.

Yep, problem here is, the shops are an hours drive or more apart. Plus, in this area, two families own 4 or five of the shops. So no matter how you slice it, if you don't go two hours or more away, you have only two Harley Dealers to do biz with. :/

The folks in the dealer that is local here have ALWAYS been good to me. However, I moved closer to the other shop. The inside people seem ok, really ok up north of here, however, the shop guys are a bit too god like as previously put.

don't talk much about it because I ride a ZX9R and the guys over there are all about american made. Many of them can't appreciate a work of art no matter who makes it

I have a 2000 Ultra Classic, a 1975 Super Glide, and a 1999 Suzuki Intruder. I like the sport bikes, and have owned Buells in the past. ZX9R, that is truely a work of art, and a fast work of art at that. I like the Japanese bikes, but the scare the hell out of me. I do not have enough self control to not twist the right grip and see what they can do.

Nice collection! I really like the ZX9, its extremely comfortable to ride. It hasn't scared me yet but I scare Joey all the time when we ride. He hasn't learned how much more control I have over the bike than he does. I've been looking at the Honda 919 lately but the damn Yamaha Warrior has recently caught my eye. And then there are some turbo busa I've seen for sale so I guess I can't make up my mind! :bike:

And there are some young guys in the neighborhood that have Busa's. Those damn things should come with a pilots license. I personally like the new BMW K1200R. 169 HP. That one may be my next bike.

Never driven a BMW but I've never been fond of the engine layout....but I hear it makes them an easy and comfortable ride
