Sorry to hear about your accident cam. I know how you're feeling right now. I had two fairly serious accidents during my years of riding, and both times I swore I would never get on a bike again. In both cases though, by the following spring the itch started to come back, and I just HAD to get another bike. Give yourself some time to heal and the strong memories to fade. You might find a few months from now that you don't want to give up riding after all.

CAM ... sorry to hear about your accident ... i hope that you heal quickly. and remember you will never loose that "riding bug" :)
Hang in there. I crushed my heal, going over a jump on my Hodaka, in my younger days and didn't touch a bike for a year. But like BW said the "itch" comes back.
I hope your leg heals and your spirits stay high. :)

I had a huge crash years ago when I got hit by a drunk driver. I was on crutches for a long time and even those hurt bad because my shoulder was hurt in the accident too. But fortunately there was no permanent damage anywhere .......... ok, except for my head. I heard what you were all thinking.
Anyway, I had a terrible time working up the courage to remount the bike after that accident. But I pushed myself and kept pushing. It took a while and I finally got back on enough to feel comfy again. But it DID most definately make me a much more aware rider when I'm out in traffic AND I don't do a whole lot of Friday and Saturday night riding these days.
But I gotta tell ya that riding just really gets in your blood and I for one have never been able to get it completely out. You hang in there and never say never. Just take a break from riding and see how you feel later.

You injuries cannot keep you from riding. However, if your fear to get back on a bike overrides everything else it is time to sit back and reflect. I was there for years before I decided to get back on a scoot.

cam.... sorry to hear about your accident.
I had a couple when I was younger, in my 20's, I hit a garbage truck at over 60 mph with no helmet on ( wasn't required in Illinois). messed up the right side of my face, right knee when it crushed the gas tank to the frame and my right foot when it was pushed through the side case. Bought another bike and a lady pulled out in front of me and I had to lay it down. Bike was stolen a few months later.
20 some years later, even though on days like today when my knee and foot hurt, I got the bug again. That is when I bought my Wing last year.
Just remember, and even though the idea may sound bad to some, but it is still the freedom, you can opt for a Trike.

Cam, Sorry you had to go through this. I realize how you feel, but like they say time can heal anything. If and when you ever decide to ride again you will know until then just take care of yourself.
I am glad that i got a chance to meet you at the Meet and Greet in Daytona.
Be Safe,
