So I just turn it up loud. Loud pipes may save lives, but loud stereos wake the dead. FX 05-24-2006, 04:07 PM Nope, I sing to myself. Roy Boy 05-25-2006, 06:41 AM I have loud pipes! But I still listen for crickets! Dgrason 05-25-2006, 07:14 AM My Electra-Glide is an earlier model without the inner fairing. Therefore, it has no place to put a stereo. A few years ago, I did rent a new Ultra for a few days and I listened to the stereo while driving down the road. I tend to be a real purist with my music. On an open motorcycle, with all the wind, road and engine noise, there is just no way that the quality of the sound is going to come up to the standards that I want to achieve when I'm listening and as such, it drives me Nucking Futs. So, on the Ultra, I just turned it off - preferring the sweet sound of Harley pipes instead. Besides. For me, bike riding is a time to unwind, relax, renew, reflect and meditate. Blasting a fuggly stereo at that point just doesn't do it for me but rather, only makes things worse. Now my wife on the other hand, is SO unsophisticated in her listening prowess, that she'll accidentally bump the car's stereo's balance control to where all music is coming out of one little door speaker, leaving the other speakers silent. And she won't know the difference. I'll get in the car, readjust everything and she'll say: "Wow, that DOES sound better." But then she'll bump it again and never notice it at all. Funny. For an aniversary present 2 years ago, I bought a totally killer system (Sony indash CD w/Infinity spkrs) for her car and it has a balance and fade control that has to adjusted by pressing a series of buttons. That way you can't accidentally push it all to one speaker. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it. But really I bought it for myself. ....just don't anyone tell her. bufordtpisser 05-25-2006, 07:53 AM My Electra-Glide is an earlier model without the inner fairing. I don't have loud pipes on my Ultra, so I turn up the music so others can hear me coming. When I am on a relaxing ride, or riding two up, the radio is off. I like good sound also, but as I get older, I just need it louder. Dgrason 05-26-2006, 12:12 AM SO YOU'RE SAYING IT'S CAUSE YOU DON'T HEAR GOOD? Heck, that may be my problem too. LOL |
