Nail in new front & back Tire! ARGG! My Options?

I have a sport bike: Honda CBR F4i 600 - 2003

I just had new tires put on my bike within the past six months (200 a piece). I now have a nail in my front tire, and a nail in my back tire. I really don't want to put another 400 bucks out there to buy new tires when my current tread is perfectly fine.

I called service and they will not plug - against the law they said.

I asked if they could put a tub in a tubless tire and they said they can do that.

My question is, is putting a tub in a tubless tire a good idea, is it safe? I just don't want to put newer tires on and get another nail and waste another 200 bucks.

Any/all thoughts are welcome! I need to get back on the road! :moped:

Can they patch it from the inside?

Tubes are ok, but, they can create a balancing issue perhaps.

If you ride your sport bike Fast and with Curves at high speed, then I would not be cheep with the tires. I know that it sucks to have to replace almost new tires but I would rather spend the money then have a blow out.

I would only plug them as a stop gap until I got to a place to get new ones. But I also agree with Tugs, if you ride fast and do a lot of corners, get new. How much is a pound of flesh going for these days??

As FX said, have it patched. An internally patched tire will be fine as long as the nail wasn't something huge, like a 16 penny that would separate the belts. Removing the tire is the biggest concern. Make sure whoever handles this has the appropriate equipment to take the tire off of the rim without damaging the bead.

If there are any doubts about repairing them, you should buy new ones. Annoying as it is, your life is worth more than a couple of hundred Dollars.

That's very true - life is worth more than a couple of tires. I guess I wasn't looking at it in that way (more concerned about the money aspect). Thanks for all the posts. I apprecaited it!

I'm dropping my bike off on Monday to get new tires installed.

I'll just try to be more careful where I drive - avoiding constuction areas or where they are doing roofing (cause I have roofing nails in the tire) :signshit:

Roofing nails suck! I was in getting the last set of tires I needed for my cage a few months ago and saw something strange. There were tires with roofing nails in them all the way around the tire. I'm talking dozens of nails.

Turns out that a truck dropped a full box off the back into traffic on HYW 411 South. Two busy lanes of traffic at a minimum. Lucky for the tire place about 2 blocks down the road.

Anyway, the tires were ruined and the tire dealer said none of those that he serviced knew what truck dropped um.

Thought maybe that would make ya feel a little better, those people had just as bad if not worse an experience.

Glad to hear you are getting it worked out. Good luck.
