How many of you can do a wheelie on your motorcycle? Is this something sport motorcycle riders only do?
Doing a wheelie on a motorcycle.FX 09-02-2006, 08:03 PM How many of you can do a wheelie on your motorcycle? Is this something sport motorcycle riders only do? Springerick 09-02-2006, 08:10 PM Springer front end is too heavy to do wheelie. If that is what you want yo do then go for it. Just watch them sudden stops. ________________________________________________ :joint: :bottle: :stoned: :stagger: :wt: Pete 09-03-2006, 05:25 PM I can do one on my Ultra Classic but the antenna's hit the ground. bufordtpisser 09-03-2006, 11:35 PM I can do one on my Ultra Classic but the antenna's hit the ground. On my Ultra, it is always the CB antenna, must be the counter steering. FX 09-03-2006, 11:49 PM On my Ultra, it is always the CB antenna, must be the counter steering. Counter balance. Get it right! JFN 09-04-2006, 07:25 AM I have a friend that replaced the stock motor on his Ultra with a larger S&S motor. The guy can get the front end off the ground. The last wheelies I did were on my Hodaka. :) bigwater 09-04-2006, 09:37 PM I got an itty bitty wheelie out of the vrod today. Was doing about 70 and dropped it into 3rd rolled the throttle and popped the clutch just to see what would happen. IT WAS ONLY AN ITTY BITTY WHEELIE... MAYBE 9 INCHES OFF THE GROUND. Does that count? FX 09-05-2006, 12:24 AM I don't think size mattters. :D aja 09-05-2006, 06:25 AM I got an itty bitty wheelie out of the vrod today. Does that count? I just KNEW you'd find something to do with that V-Rod. bufordtpisser 09-05-2006, 08:27 AM Counter balance. Get it right! So if I lean to the left, I will go to the right. Or is that If I hit the brake the gears will change. Or does the CB change the radio stations? Damn, I am so confused. No wonder I keep falling down. bufordtpisser 09-05-2006, 08:31 AM that is a virtual wheelie machine. That thing sees more air than most 747's. And it is fun as hell. I use it to get my stupid bike riding moments out of my system so that I do not try dumb things on the street. I have found it to be good therapy. Only thing is, since my shoulder and back are hurt, it seems to take me twice as long to recuperate from the blasts through the sand bowls as it used to. But as long as I can get my fat ass on the seat, I will ride the wheels off of the thing. c.crawford 09-05-2006, 12:59 PM I got an itty bitty wheelie out of the vrod today. Is the above similar to your vrod? bigwater 09-06-2006, 08:21 AM With a long wheel base and a cruser large rake, that is an impressive display of power, riding and wheelie. Is the above similar to your vrod?Yeah, it's exactly like that. Same color even. It's a 2003 100th anniversiary model. Power doesn't properly describe that thing. It's just *wicked* fast. I tried to take a picture of it this morning to post, but the glare of the morning sun is just too much. The pic just looked like a giant blur of glare from all the chrome shining. I'll try to remember to take some pics this afternoon when the sun gets on the other side of the house. My original first impression of the bike hasn't changed much. I still don't like it. It's too smooth and too quiet. You can't hear or feel the motor at all, so the only way to know when to shift is to be constantly monitoring the tach. The torque curve is so smooth that you don't get much help out of that, although it does have a pretty steep spike at around 7000 rpm. The only thing I do like about the bike is I've been absolutely unable to drag the frame on it. It'll handle every curve I throw at it without any part of the bike other than the rubber touching the pavement. |
