Is the pull length too long, or is it just physically hard to pull. There are compound quadrant levers available for some bikes, as well as lever attachments that make the pull length a little less. FX 09-08-2006, 07:31 AM There are cam driven clutch levers available that reduce the pull pressure. We have a few sponsors that sell them, please check out the banners on the top right hand side of the forum and I'm sure you will find what your need at one of them. Thanks c.crawford 09-08-2006, 10:26 AM Ridergear is just clothes and leathers, good stuff, not what we want right now. J&P Cycles (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2102744-10400397) No matter what you search for it goes back to Harley parts. They need to fix their search engine. Bike Bandit (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-2102744-1485278) Makes you log in before much works with them. JC Whitney (http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2102744-4182511) There is a product called DrySlide. But a new bike shouldn't have a stickey hard cable problem. Ask the dealer how good his waranty is. allnaturalmale 09-08-2006, 10:51 AM hello bob here again....its just phisicaly hard on her hand...its not a lube issue...i thought i saw something in the way of alittle gaddit that bolts onto the lever and makes it easyer to pull.......... FX 09-08-2006, 11:03 AM Follow this link. J&P Cycles (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2102744-10400397). Then in the search box put. Roll-A-Click Levers The first listing will be what you need. c.crawford 09-08-2006, 12:30 PM In the mean time discuss it with Sue. Adjust the cable where there is as much slack as posible. That will put the disengage point very close to the handlebar grip. You have to make sure that the clutch will fully disengage. It might try to drag the bike forward at a stoplight and it might try to drag the bike forward when starting cold. Don't over do it. It will put the clutch lever operation closer to the handlebar where it is easier to grip. It is just a stop gap measure until your part arrives. If it works well, you can grin real big. If there isn't any extra slack to put in the cable, then you can tell Sue it was my bad idea. But make sure she knows, don't let clutch draging suprise her. lugnut 09-08-2006, 12:51 PM Get a tennis ball and squeeze it a few times ,2 or 3 times a day. Do that for a while, amazing wht it does for a stronger grip. crazyfastbabybusa 09-08-2006, 05:16 PM i had the same problem it was hard the first like week when i got my bike then one day i noticed it wast hard anymore . i got useto it pretty quick i was suprised and how soon. and i only ride like twice a week so she will get use to it . allnaturalmale 09-08-2006, 07:58 PM thanks guys for the input on clutch................now has anyone gutted the exaust on the volcan 800 drifter..................... just so i can do this first before buying new exaust...thanks bob............. lugnut 09-13-2006, 12:30 PM The White Brothers Easy Clutch (CCI #28-473) is a simple motorcycle part which increases the mechanical leverage of the clutch lever. It reduces clutch pull by almost half and is easily installed on most Harleys. The easy Clutch installs inside the right side transmission end cover (where the kickstart used to go) and cost's about $25. The motorcycle part fits all 1987 and later big twins except Harley FXR models that have mid-controls. If you have one of these models and have converted to forward controls, a change to a softail trans side cover will let you install the Easy Clutch. To install the Easy Clutch you'll need basic tools like some open end wrenches, allens and screw drivers. The included instructions are clear and have pictures showing proper mounting. c.crawford 09-14-2006, 08:10 AM .... and is easily installed on most Harleys. ...... except we were talking about a Vulcan 800 Drifter. lugnut 09-14-2006, 01:41 PM ....oh yeah...sorry...please pass the bottle, my brain went dry. c.crawford 09-14-2006, 06:59 PM Brain cells kill beer, loud pipes something something, OEM pipes are usually crimped shut, and sometimes welded as well. In aftermarket pipes usually only one screw holds the baffels in. spud 09-20-2006, 04:24 PM My misses recons my 'crutch' lever is to hard sometimes:break bed |
