Yep, after 10 years of thrashing it, I broke it. What a PITA to have to put a new one on now. Yuck! But such is life.

But there's more to the story.

I was talking to Jrbooe today and how the build up is about 9 years old and has served me well. We also discusses him not riding with Gumbo tomorrow cause he didn't want to do 120MPH. J said, those belt driven hot rods eat belts, so Gumbo should be careful.

I again said, nope, mine is fine. I told him I would do some maintenance on my motorcycle and meet them at Fox Crossing to see The Bad Apple Band Play tomorrow. I had my to do list all set and things were going well.

So I did what I had to do. Then I went for a test ride. Low and behold, I thrashed the throttle one more time before I hit the driveway. Then it happened. I thought I miss shifted when the RPMs went too high. I pulled in the clutch and coasted in the driveway.

I got off the bike and came in to put up my glasses and keys. I went back to the garage to lock up. Then I saw it!

The belt was laying on the ground behind the motorcycle.

So J, you are an :ahole: It's all your fault!

Hey, my shoulders are broad, I can accept that. Hmm, you going to be gentle on the new belt or are you going to be FX?

Well, that would mean alot of change. I don't like change.

However, the amount of work necessary may slow me down for a while.

Two words for ya FX. Dry Silicone. Can't remember the brand and I'm too lazy to walk out in the garage and look, but put a liberal dash of dry silicone treatment on your belt every time you change the oil and you'll never have a problem with breaking belts again.

Bw, that won't work, he never changes the oil in his bike.

What oil?

I was checking out the Gates belt I'd be getting and I stumbled on to a cool cheap hat and shirt store. You can get hats and shirts with the Gates logo as cheap as 5 bucks.

I got a sweat shirt, a hat and a tee shirt for $30.00 with shipping.

A good sweat shirt usually costs that in some stores.

FX, as the respected (term used loosly) owner of a major internet motorcycle forum, Gates ought to be paying you to wear their advertising... *and* giving you free belts too.

Yep... what jr said.

Not that I would ever steal a quote from P.T. Barnum.
Yes. loosely is the way you should term that Big.

Yep, in a sense I believe that to be the case. But for $5.00, I'll sport their logo.
