They've been out there a while now and I'm wondering if folk's opinions had changed.

I am extremely happy with my 8-ball, I ride it everyday to and from work. But please expound on the pain in the ass part of your question.

I have a Victory dealer next door to the bar I frequent so I stop in and check them out from time to time. They do make some good looking bike's.
Sales numbers look good.
"For those who haven't been paying attention, you should know that Victory Motorcycles, a division of ATV and snowmobile maker Polaris, continues to grow at a remarkable pace. Its sales were up a whopping 43% in 2005, and expectations for '06 are for another 30% bump. It is predicted Victory will bring in more than $300 million in total revenue by 2010."

Reliability of the drivetrain. Availability of service and parts.

Like any other new product, as they add Dealers the repair issues become less of a problem.

From what I have seen and heard the Victory's are doing great and are a very reliable machine.

If I can find out how to turn one into a nice, good looking dresser with ALL the toys at a reasonable cost, It would probably be in the top 2 choices of my next ride pushing the Ultra Classic to # 3.

I ride with a guy that bought a new Victory in 04 and had nothing but troubles with it....he turned around and traded it on a 05 and couldn't be happier....takes good care of it, and does all the service on time, and it is flawless....The reports I hear say, Polaris is going to release a Victory Dresser in the near future....If they are as nice as my friends Vic, I would consider one.

They had one in '05 and then not in '06 but I did hear they are planning a release of another. I will look toward the Victory again before I make my decision.

You can have problems with anything, they are made with human hands... Even the space shuttle has problems, It goes up, it comes down, Unfortunately, not always in one piece, and that is the best technology in the World.

Any experiences w/ putting aftermarket parts on them? How are the electrical systems in general?

Gumbo's seems to be a good motorcycle.

I was on the Victory website the other day checking out the Ness Signature model (http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/Victory/2007Models/NessSignatureSeries/) - Wow. An awful lot for $23k.

All that cause of the guys name. What a rip off! People that pay for a name like that are morons. That's just my opinion.

I know what you mean about the name thing, but the bike itself is pretty sweet.

Kinda generic and sanitary lookin'...favor all the "glamour choppers" to much to suit me. Referred to by somebody on here as cookie cutter bikes. :2cents:

It's not my style (but I was amazed at what you got for $23k - I guess I really have gotten used to Harleys).

Well, to admit it, the factory paint jobs are very plain. The custom paint job on Gumbo's Victory have truly set it off. It has changed from an ugly duckling to a swan.

If anyone likes The "Retro" Look... look at the Yamaha Stratoliner... I Love the looks but for myself, I still want a Full Dress

I've got a 05 Kingpin and it has been bulletproof. It's my primary ride (cage only in severe weather). Have run it long distance also and is smooth. Lots of power and good brakes. The handling was decent and when I wore out my tires I switched to Avon radials. Woke up the handling on this bike, it's great and the ride got better also.
