I have measured the stator coil on my virago xv535 1990 and it is open. I am wondering how hard a job is that to replace.?? Anyone have any luck with that out there.??

Anyone have any luck with that out there.?? thebighop 09-24-2007, 06:15 AM As I recall..the stator is on the left behind the small cover with the Yamaha name on it...It shouldn't be a major job to replace...remove a couple of allen screws and a bolt, unplug it and it's out... Kinda make sure that you need to replace the stator before you tear into it...the stator, new OEM, runs a little over $250, the rotary assm. almost $400, the pick-up assm..over $200...these are new OEM...after market should be a little cheaper t_bell40 09-24-2007, 11:06 AM Thanks, I have the clymer book describing the removal. Sometimes it leaves steps out or goes over board on what has to come off the bike. I will keep you posted. Thanks agin. t_bell40 10-04-2007, 08:43 PM I was measuring the rectifier end of the system not the stator. The stator measures fine. I put a new rectifier in but, it still doesn't get up to the 14 to 15vdc the book talks about. I replaced that same part last year. Don't know what is causing them to burn up?? Weird. Later t_bell40 10-05-2007, 05:49 AM Rode the bike to work this morning. NO help!! Replaced the year old regulator and still the bike doesn't perform at top end. God that sucks!! 80 dollars a pop for that regulator. thebighop 10-06-2007, 07:05 AM Take it to a dealer or repair shop that can do some diagnostics on it...That would probably be less than $80.... t_bell40 10-06-2007, 10:24 AM ya, i called one place and said they didn't have anyway to check it out. I will keep calling around. Thanks |
