There are a lot of people out there that are looking or thinking about getting their first trike. Maybe we all can help them make a decision by letting them know what we have and why we choose it.
I have a 2001 Goldwing with a 2004 Champion conversion. We got this since it has a longer body and being tall I felt more confortable on it. After 3 years I know we made a great choice.

I ride a custom-built trike with an 1835cc VW motor and a fiberglass body. My first trike was also custom-built, with an all-steel body(weighed about 3000 lbs), cab-over roof, a 1600 dual port VW motor, and room for myself and 4 passengers. It was definitely a head turner(looked like an old pick-up from the back), but I like my current one so much better!

I like the VW conversions, .I now ride a trike since my knee is giving me a fit and it was starting to not be any fun riding two wheels. Also we have a small toy hauler and being somewhat retired we get to travel around and in most tourist places we go to we don't have to worry about all the stop and go and holding up the bike.
I had to get use to not taking corners too sharp like pulling into gas stations .almost ripped the fender a couple times. The saying there is watch your hips. Glad to know you. Have a great day

I bought an 1100 Honda Shadow from a friend that had a conversion kit on it, that made it essentially a trike...
It was a 'Voyager' conversion. It keeps the rear wheel for drive but installs two outboard auto wheels (13 inch) with fenders, that act somewhat like training wheels, in that it keep the bike upright at stops and is ideal for someone that wants it both ways...the kit is removable, and can be dismounted in about 10 minutes...so you can roll on two when you want to lean into the curves....
This is what it looked like....

It handled pretty much like a trike as far as steering, and control, but the ride was a bit harder or stiffer. At about $4100, they aren't a bad way to go, compared to an all out trike conversion, and it gives you the added feature of being convertible back to 2 wheels....

That voyager kit is a great deal. I tried one out and you are right the ride is a little stiffer but for the money part it is t deal. I find that another reason that trikes are getting popular is the wives and girl friends are pushing it due the fact the feel more secure. Nice looking rig.

DAYUM...What the hell would a old guy do without friends, eh? LOL
While yer at it, buy me some Depends for the runs...LOL

But...if you will recall...I bought that bike to resell...I only had it for a few weeks.
I got it from a friend that had to give up riding altogether, and he threw in a niffty little cargo trailer with it...I sold the rig and kept the trailer along with about a $1k profit....I can take a ribbing over that one anytime...LOL
Hey Buffie...be safe going down to Aja's....

Gonna try my best to stay safe. I have a 7 year old son counting on it. Note to self, get depends for the trip so you don't have to stop.

This is my new trike! It rolled out of the shop yesterday (our shop looks like a tornado hit it) and I took my first trike ride. We designed it based on the "Red Rider" kids trike... It's got a solo seat just for me, and it is surprisingly comfortable. Tom designed the frame based on a Harley FLH frame, so this is a "rubber-mounted" custom trike. It's got a 96" S&S engine and we had Rolling Thunder Manufacturing build the frame based on TOm's CAD design. Mike of Starr Machine in Kissimmee worked his tail off making custom parts all over it.
