And you think you're the coolest parent to ever live?
But, do you let your kid ride on the street? Most parents do and it seems to be common.
Stop and think for a minute. Does your kid have a drivers license? Is your kid old enough to have one? Does your kid have insurance if they hit someone else? Does your kid have a light? Does your kid stop at stop signs when you aint there? Does your kid look about the size of a basketball on the "mini bike"? Did your kid take the motorcycle safety course and pass? Does your kid have 20 years experience like you?
We just buried a brother that was hit about head on. He had about 50 years experience. He had a Light. He had a license. He most likely was insured to the nines. He probably took a safety course. He had a motorcycle license. And he was a big guy on a big bike riding where he should be.
However he was taken by a head on accident.
You think your kid is exempt from this possiblity with zero of the above credentials or even a few of them?
You are dead wrong!
I came around a corner the other day and confronted a kid on a "mini bike" about head on. It was dusk. He had no light. He was about the size of a basketball on his mini crotch rocket.
I could have crushed him and killed him. Then you as a parent would have sued me. Worse, if I had one beer and there was beer on my breath, albeit not drunk, you'd be saying it's my fault and I'm a drunk driver and "I" should go to jail.
The reality being though, that you told your kid they would be okay doing something illegal.
So who is letting who down here and who's the real victim in the event of such a tragedy?
It's your decision, right, wrong, or otherwise, but have you thought about having to write a eulogy for your child?
How cool is that?
