Brake light using front brake

When I pull the front brake my brake light does not come on. It does when I use the foot brake but not the hand brake. I replaced the brake light switch in the handle bars but, of course it still doesn't work. I do have this tool that when I hook it up to the wire going to the brake light switch that the tool tests the wire and adds power and thus turns the light on.

What else should I check?

You have to have 12 volts going to the switch in order for it to work. Check the wires to the switch. When you pull in on the handle, the circuit should complete and it should fire the light. All you can do is trace the wires from start to finish.

Thanks buford. I'll check the wires to see where they go and see what condition they're in, see if maybe something is shorting them out.

On my 74 SuperGlide, I had a short where the wires went down the backbone. They rubbed through and all of the handlebar controls were intermittent at best. I also had to solder the connections on the back of the pressure switch to get a constant connection.

Alright, I'll check that out. Not a bad idea to solder the connections either, may end up doing that! Thanks again!
