Its your fault!

Have done a lot of thinking on motorcycle wrecks and crashes.
The bottom line is there is an implied risk on riding a
motorcycle. What we have to do is try to minimize
all the risks and possibilities that we can. When I first started back riding I thought proper protection was a 3/4 helmet, leather gloves, and shoes. After being in 2 wreck/crashes and reading a lot on motorcycle safety I do things differently. I wear much more protective gear now including a full coverage helmet. I never ride without my vented armored jacket on..even in the dead of summer.
Am getting the matching pants ASAP.
What I ask myself now is not whose fault it was but,
What could I have done to avoided it?

Here here! I know for a fact, when I wrecked, my protective gear worked. However, I got a real bad elbow injury that may have been lessened quite a bit if I had on a leather jacket instead of just demin. My hands were a mess too, again, with gloves, the hands would have been road rash free for the most part. My boots are good quality and definatly saved my feet alot of injury, but I broke both big toes anyway because my feet slammed into the tips of the boots on impact, bruises, but no road rash. I doubt the bruises could have been avoided though. :p

Let me tell you from experience, from having it happen and seeing it happen. If you wreck and don't have on well laced boots, your shoes are gonna come right off and your feet will be sorry! That's a fact! Look at crime scene photos of bike wrecks, you will almost always see the victims shoes right next to the wreck if they were not attached properly.
