Older Fatboy wobble

I own a 93 Fatboy with the usual mods, EV27 cam, V&H pipes, S&S carb. My question is: When I ride Highway speeds, anything over 60 it feels like I am riding on ice. The bike seems to feel like it is roaming all over. The front end feels tight it is just the rear that feels as if it wants to come out from under me. The faster you go the less you feel in control. On city roads the bike is solid and strong, no signs of wobble. I am just wondering sense this is the only bike I have ever ridden if it is just the way it goes for that size and year bike or if there is a problem. Do ant of you experienced riding understand what I mean. I did (much to my dislike) add a windshield. That does help but does not solve the sway problem. On a windy day you can just forget about getting over 70.

I had that feeling once on a bike and it turned out to be a broken shock, the weld broke and although the shock looked attached, it was not. Made for a wierd ride in a turn like you were going over waves in the road, one wheel high while the other was low.

I don't know if this would apply to your bike however.

All good advice. This has the potential to collect enough info for a tech tip sheet.

That would a great addition to our motorcycle facts. Tech Tip Sheets.

Anyone wanna write one? A well written, with proper grammer and spelling tip sheet on motorcycle rear ends - swingarm maintenance of one page will get the writer a free one year Premium Membership. You will be credited as the author, however RiderInfo.com will retain ownership and may edit the submission.

Any takers?
