    Gas Prices

I am sure everyone has felt to shock of filling up the bike and seeing the pump hit $10.00.

Reading the paper today I saw that they are blaming the next round of gas price increases on the storm in the gulf. I just wanted to share my feeling on this.

I have been a Chief Engineer on Ocean Going Tank Vessels for over 20 years. For the last 8 years I have been employed on a vessel that brings about 11 Million Gallons of cargo (Gas, Jet Fuel, Diesel Fuel} into Tampa FL once a week. My company has 5 other units that also bring cargo to Florida.

We all have read about the shortage of Crude Oil, all I can say is B.S. Yes, if there is a storm the ships might be delayed, but not enough to raise prices.

Also has anyone else noticed that when Crude Oil Prices go up the Gas at the pump goes up, but when Crude Oil prices go down the gas at the pump stays up? Damn those evil corporations (that was for you FX).
    Just my Thoughts.

Don't get me started! I already only drive when necessary. I can't cut back anymore. I wish I had an idea for a solution. The solution was at the polls last year and America voted for those that gave us this mess thus we must accept it. I hope Amercan's get their heads out of their asses next election, but it's going to be a long 3 years till then.

I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIS DADDY EITHER!!!

(We should have voted for Gore, i did)

The nation really needs to go 55MPH again. The law needs to protect good drivers from the stupid ones. The law should protect the populace from greed and corporate greed. 9/11/2001 there was price gouging at the pump, it is undenyable. So politicans have a "investegation" or a "study" or a "poll" invariably years later politicans say: HUH?!? When police come upon a vehicular homoside they don't arrest the perp unless the perp is drunk. The judge won't enforce it!!!

The AMA has launched a campaign in several states called "Motorcyclists Matter" to try to reduce crashes caused by motorists who pull into the paths of motorcycles. The campaign seeks to increase penalties for motorists who injure or kill motorcyclists, and to raise public awareness of motorcyclists on the road.

Clubs or individuals who would like to get involved in the "Motorcyclists Matter" campaign should contact Imre Szauter, AMA Legislative Affairs Specialist, at (614) 856-1900, ext. 1125, or by e-mail at iszauter@ama-cycle.org and ask for the "Motorcyclists Matter" information kit.

The oil business is simple supply and demand. The supply into the US has been pretty constant for the last 30 years, we haven't built a new refinery since the 70's, but demand keeps increasing. Add to that the increase in global demand, China, India, etc.., and prices rise.
The best tool we have for combating this is to decrease demand. Ride the bike more, buy smaller cars, car pool and take mass transit.
If people keep buying big ass 4 wheel drives when they have no need in the world for a 4 wheel drive then the prices are never going to stabilize.
I'm sure if Kerry had won gas would be 20 cents per gallon and we would all have our 70 virgins and be living happily ever after.

$1.10 a liter here in southern Ontario. I can get 10 bucks in it now, without even being on reserve. I can remember when I could fill it for less than 3 bucks.

I bought a Ram 1500 just before prices went up, that is why in a year I've only put 2500 miles on it. My year old bike has almost 6000k miles, all local. However I did fill the truck up today for 2.41 a gallon. Just east of Lancaster Pa.
