    Route 66

    Hello all,
I turn 50 October 2007. As a once in a lifetime treat I intend to do Route 66, probably in September. I was looking at a guided tour by 'Eaglerider' starting in Chicago going west. Does anyone have any better suggestions or tips? would appreciate any input as i haven't been to the U.S.A. before.

I've ridden the western part of Route 66, Laughlin to LA, and it was some great ridding. Sounds like a fun 50th birthday.

Thats it, the deed is done. All booked up and flights paid for. Had to change it from September to May. (Wifes birthday in September. Whoops) Starting on May 10th. Will post more details nearer the date. Would love to see some of you guys on my one off trip. Any idea of types of weather I might come across?? I've heard there could be a chance of the odd tornado crossing Oklahoma at that time of year. And a bit chilly at the Grand Canyon.

It'll probably still be a bit cool that time of year until you get to Tulsa, not cold, but jacket weather.

What kind of bike will you be renting for this adventure?

Thanks for the info BW, you are given a wide choice of bike for the trip but have to give them 2 options. I have gone for the Roadking or the Fat Boy. I'm not a Harley kinda guy, but if ya doing route 66 ya GOTTA do it on a Harley.
Hoppie, if I do bump into any of you over there I'd love to get the beers in and see some of the faces behind the posts.
