The first annual Earl T. Ackerman Coast Run

I am proposing to put an annual ride together in memory of one of our most beloved bretheren, Earl T. Ackerman. Earl was a riding sumbitch and did not believe in stopping at every bar between point of origin and destination. Earl loved to ride. Between the last Thursday of Bike week and the following Sunday evening Earl put over 900 miles on his bagger. He loved to ride and rode every weekend, no matter the weather.

I am proposing we all get together at a designated meeting spot, i.e. Gumbo's, crank up the scoots and ride to the coast for lunch, then turn around and head home. I would also further like to suggest for the first annual ride we hold a benefit party at Gumbo's for Carla who was seriously injured in the crash and has no hospitalization insurance. I thought I would throw this out and see how everyone feels. Whether anyone joins me or not, come June 2, I am hitting the coast in Earl's memory and will do so that same weekend for many years to come.

I just got off the phone with Gumbo. He has committed himself to the planned ride for Earl on June 2

To the best of my ability at this moment....I'm in. I'll even plan the route in the most indirect way if anyone wants me too.....To make it about the ride.

Rick, JB's is a great place, fantastic food. However, We have decided on Crystal River or Homossassa. Roy Turner said his band will play for the after ride benefit party for Carla. Give me a suggestion for some good eats for lunch over at Crystal River. I am thinking in lieu of starting the ride off at Gator that it will begin from The Roadside at 10:00am. June 2

Please count me in. I unfortunately did not make Earl's memorial ride. I just could not ride any further, my back was acting up big time and for that I am sorry that my blasted back let me down one more time.

Come Hell or High Water, I will make this ride. It will be an honor to make this ride, this year and I hope for many years to come.

I only just recently made Earl's aquaintence but he seemed like a really nice guy and I know that he had some really good friends. I would really like to be included in this ride too if at all possible. So hope to see you all there. I will print out the flyer and carry it around. Dizzys, Shamrock, Hideaway, and Palm Harbor will be getting the flyer between now and then.
