I really like the point made here-
put another vehicle between your bike and the possibilty of someone running the upcoming traffic signal/redlight & you cut your chances of getting hit in 1/2.

In a car it was pick an object at the side of the road that the vehicle ahead had just passed and say "only a fool breaks the two second rule" if you passed the object before finishing you were going too fast for breaking, with the bike this changed to

"Only a fool breaks the two second rule, any faster than that your being a prat".
